Lobster Buoy is a vacation campsite, small and private on over 400 feet of Maine seashore. One can swim in the Atlantic Ocean, build sandcastles in the sand, beach comb for driftwood, magic rocks and shells or watch aquatic wildlife, lobster boats, or schooners right from your site. Painters and photographers need not leave their campsite to find insperation.

No site at Lobster Buoy is more than 150 yards from the shore. We have sites for tenters and RV'ers. Every site is grassy with a picnic table and a fire ring. There are hot showers and flush toilets. No sewer hookups but we do have a dump station available. A small campsite store is located on the premises and is open in July and August with ice, campfire wood, and other essentials.

Lobster Buoy Campsites was started in 1969 by Fred and Mabel Batty. We started small, with only five campsites, and have grown slowly to the current forty sites. We have tried not to comercialize our area, preferring to keep things simple and to the liking of the old fashioned camper. Our guests enjoy the camping experience and demand no additional entertainment.

Little has changed at Lobster Buoy over the years, except the camping families are now into the fourth generation. We have attempted to keep the campsite updated but unchanged.

The Mackerel and the Stripers have traditionally arrived arround the fourth of July and the Schooners still sail past on their sea going adventures. Lobster boats still work and kayaks and sailboats still play in the cove in front of the campsites.Fred no longer tells his stories around the campfires, but the ducks, loons, and gulls still carry on their conversations while they fish in the ocean.

Within 15 miles of Lobster Buoy are attractions and events to please everyone. The Farnsworth Art Museum and many other small galleries line the streets of downtown Rockland. There are also schooners, day sailers, sight seeing boats, and island ferries. The Owls Head transportaion is open daily and has different shows almost every weekend. There is also the Knox mansion to tour, summer theater, music festivals and country fairs to enjoy. There are five lighthouses to be seen, three by land. The exquisite harbors at Camden and Rockport are not to be missed. You can also visit some of the local working harbors where fishermen sell their catch.

The area offers golf courses and numerous antique and craft shops and lawn sales nearly every weekend. Nearby there are many seafood restaurants ranging from fine dining to lobsters and clams on the warf. You can even buy fresh lobster from the local fishermen and cook them at your site.
